I am thirsty.

Earlier this evening I wrote the following analogy in response to an essay by Alex Harris. I share, and expand upon it now as it has reminded me of my thirst, perhaps it will remind you of your thirst, or of your being satiated.

If we seek the solution to the ideological terror that is found in the Islamist or Islamo-fascist, we seek what he must find, and we seek in vain.

This is written not "as" but rather "from" the perspective of one who has submitted to the will of God, or in Arabic, a Muslim, a perhaps mythical believer who sees the error of the Islamist, as there seem to be so few or none on any given day. It might look like this.

---

Islam is the vessel that carries the water that all Muslims should drink. The water being the moral truths to guide a man or woman through life and to God's will. Whereas today, the vessel is dry and carries the dust of the forgotten truths, and the sand of bigotry and hatred.

So how would a Muslim refill the vessel, and once again drink from truth and righteousness. In a community that neither respects nor seeks to understand the moral basis of their faith, instead choosing to focus on the fiqh (jurisprudence) and the tawhid (oneness of God) as known and understood in years gone by, it will not be easy. The first step to refilling the vessel is the hardest. It is the recognition that the vessel is dry. After that, you will be able to understand that fiqh has a place, as do concepts such as tawhid. As the vessel fills, fiqh becomes, like sugar, something to help the water go down. And tawhid, it is the water frozen as ice cubes, making for a more refreshing drink and quenching the thirst.

Maybe not.... after all it is late and I am prone to ramble. If you are a Muslim, understand I meant no disrespect to you in this analogy. If you aren't, understand I meant none to you either. Good night all and as always, may God bless.
