To the 'Believers'
To blog for the joy of doing so, to blog to learn, and to remember. The reasons I have for blogging are clear to me. And then there are days like today.
News of continued attacks on innocent Iraqi civilians, police and military forces. There can be no joy in the constant updating, or keeping account of the murderous tactics of those who claim their faith in God drives them to kill innocent parties. Of course, they, the believers, would argue that the police and military forces are not innocent but rather collaborators with the Great Satan.
The Great Satan has enabled the people of Iraq to chose for themselves a future course or a rule of law, even Shariah law if so inclined, and economic opportunity unrivaled in the Arab world.
The faithful argue that the Great Satan, in conjunction with the illegitimate state of Israel, has excerted an influence on the world that impoverishes the soul, by permitting, if not encouraging, a individual to chose his own path, rather than requiring a man to walk the straight path, الصِّرَاطَ الْمُسْتَقِيمَ.
The Great Satan has no compulsion in religion. Neither does the faith the murderous believer claims for himself. What the Great Satan has offered the people of Iraq, and for that matter, the citizens who make up this land, is an opportunity to be exceptional or without merit, to succeed or to fail, to aspire or to disparage, and to live by the beliefs you hold or to be duplicitous.
In the believers prayers, it is common, that Sūrat al-Kāfirūn is recited. This Sūrat calls for believers to murder the unbelievers - الْكَافِرُونَ .... No. It calls for the believers to say "I do not worship that which you worship". Yet the believers, blowing themselves and others up with increasing frequency, worship that which they claim the Great Satan worships. The believer, through his actions alone, shows his true worship is not God, but rather Death.
And of the Great Satan, we, it's citizens and supporters, continue to strive to bring freedom, properity, and justice to those who have no voice, just as you had none in Iraq just a few short months ago.
