Fury over Muslim Only day at Six Flags Great Adventure
This Friday, the 17th of September, Six Flags Great Adventure, will be for "Muslims only." The event, sponsored by Islamic Circle of North America and the Muslim American Society, for Muslim Youth Day offers Muslims the full day at the amusement park without the presence of the non-Muslim revelers.
Three thoughts come to me.
First, the sponsors, ICNA, in particular, are far from being the peace loving American Muslim that the media continues to tell us are the majority of Muslims. As I’ve noted previously, ICNA links to an essay that calls Sayyid Qutb, as one of the Greatest Muslims of the 20th Century. And then there's this:
"WorldNetDaily attended a conference in Orlando, Fla., sponsored in part by the ICNA, which featured a main speaker who voiced empathy and support for suicide bombers, denied Muslims were involved in 9-11, characterized the war on terror as a conspiratorial Zionist plot designed to destroy Islam and Muslims, and blamed attacks on affirmative action on "the rise of the Jewish cracker."Second, while other groups have sponsored events at the park, none have claimed it exclusively and the company treads on thin ice when supporting such an exclusive engagement.Judicial Watch says the ICNA has ties to Hamas, and terrorism expert Steve Emerson stated: "The ICNA's hatred of the Jews is so fierce that it taunted them with a repetition of what Hitler did to them."
In his book, "American Jihad," Emerson writes: "The ICNA openly supports militant Islamic fundamentalist organizations, praises terror attacks, issues incendiary attacks on Western values and policies, and supports the imposition of Sharia [Islamic code of law]."
Third, while many will ask that the state and others get involved to prevent Six Flags from permitting this, it is wrong to do so. It tells us more about ICNA and Muslims than it does about Six Flags.
The original story is here.
UPDATE: Right Thinking Girl has a question of how the theme park would react -
"if a Christian group asked for a "Christian only day"."
And then this update - Six Flags and ICNA now claim it is no longer an exclusive Muslim's only event.
