Continued Iranian Obstinacy

In the wake of the IAEA’s most recent report(available as a PDF) on nuclear proliferation and the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Iranian government made their position very clear by claiming the IAEA’s demands are “illegal”.

"This demand is illegal," he said. "The IAEA board of governors has no right to make such a suspension obligatory for any country."
The IAEA is demanding that Iran suspend any efforts to create enriched uranium, which could be used in nuclear weapons, and stating that should Iran fail to comply, the IAEA will recommend that the issue be taken before the United Nations Security Council. Of course, Iran didn’t like that either.
"Iran will stop implementing the additional protocol and will limit its cooperation with the IAEA."
In summary, Iran, who sits on huge oil reserves and is a leading exporter of oil, wants to build nuclear power plants for internal energy needs, while ignoring international concerns regarding such an effort. In the words of Robert Stevens, “Iran Gives Her Enemies The Finger”.

Once again, it is time for a gut check, and we all must be prepared to accept the deficit of character at home, should we fail to hold Iran in check.
